Hi Audrey,
Edinburgh
is a big city. We are staying in a B&B in the outskirts and go downtown by bus so that we won’t have to
think about parking the car in the
centre. Christine and Paul came and spent a day with us. Together we walked along
Prince’s Street - where all book shop windows were filled with
the third Harry Potter
book that was released a few days ago.
(They had to release it in the afternoon, because they feared
that too many children would miss school if they released it in
the morning!)
We saw Edinburgh Castle
and the crown jewels. We walked along the Royal Mile where we passed the entrance to the new
parliament.
We saw the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the British
queen’s
official residence in Scotland. Mary, Queen of Scots
used to live here and her Italian secretary was killed there.
We also celebrated our last time together with a nice meal in
a restaurant and later a beer in a pub! This pub had a family
room, so the children were allowed entrance. As a farewell-present, Christine gave us a tin of
Haggis
because we did not have any while on
Skye.
Many greetings to you from the ones from Newcastle - and
also from Linda.
