Hello Audrey,
When leaving Edinburgh, we passed the
Forth Rail Bridge
, which is the world's first major structure to be made entirely of
steel. It is really very impressive.
As you know, we were going to visit Peter's acquaintance who
lives in
Kirkliston, and there we asked for vacancies at more than 10 B&Bs without any success. Finally we found one ½ hour's
drive away. We learned that the British Open
Golf
Tournament was in Carnoustie and that was why every hotel and B&B was
busy at the moment.
Together with Hamish and Karen
, we had a nice time. He works at the
Stevenson
College
in Edinburgh and she is a social worker. They took us for a ride along the
Firth of Forth
and showed us a nice little village with an interesting museum
house.
Hamish told us about Scottish writers
, such as Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott. We had long talks about
politics
and present-day Scotland
.
Love from Linda.
